Good for them!
There's going to be no shortage of naysayers and negative comments regarding their 'lack of revenue' or that they don't have a business model in place. To these people, there is not a lot that I could say to overcome your objections. However, I find it ironic that so many of these people find themselves within this incredibly unique platform on a daily basis. Whether it be to communicate, build applications, obtain news or just simply passing along a funny Youtube video.
You see, from my perspective, its the platform that all of these investors are looking at. Who knows how many applications these days find themselves either dependent on or leaning on the Twitter world as a means of fully communicating with their audience. Salesforce introduced Social CRM with Twitter integration. Lithium Technologies has a vast array of social CRM applications that utilize Twitter. And, with this weeks launch of @oneforty (http://www.oneforty.com), its evident that hundreds if not thousands of companies that pinning their hopes for revenue and/or acquisition on building viable applications that depend on the Twitter platform.
That aside, I am a believer that you don't raise this type of capital without some very smart people on board. There are just too many opportunities for them to plug into in order to acquire revenue. So, here's to a bright future for Twitter and the many roads that it will travel.
